i'm letting you in on my future kids' names.

...So feel special. :]

Yes, I already have my kids' names picked out, if the Lord sees fit for me to marry and have children. And if He doesn't? Then these are my future horses' and cats' and dogs' and chickens' names. Okay, scratch the chickens. Scrap the entire animal names idea, actually--if these names aren't destined for my babies, they are destined for no one. :) And that is a fact.

So what's in a name? A lot.

..Especially since this particular girl is extremely picky with names. I can tolerate all names (okay, besides Philomena and Wilma and Artemus, etc.), but I can't like all names. There are very few names I seriously like, as in, "I am so naming my kid that." This doesn't mean I don't like your name, my dear reader, on you. I simply am picky about what my children will be named.

As I was saying--what's in a name? And as I also was saying: a lot. Because besides me being choosy about them, names are really, really special. For instance, have you ever really truly thought about the fact that God gives parents a wonderful gift when he allows them to name their children? He writes our names--not code names, not numbers, not Latin mumbo-gumbo, but the names out parents gave us, in His book of life. And someday, be it His will, I will have that privilege...to name a child permanently. To give him or her the title which God will identify them with, which everyone they meet will know them as, which they will have for eternity.

How awesome--how truly awesome is that?!

Thus, I thought it would be fun to show you a little list of names I love (or even adore. The asterisks are by the names which I adore).

Girls:

Laylee*
Lora
Emilee
Emilia
Autumn*
Olivia
Jourdann*
Violette
Rebekah
Julia
Analise*
Michele
Lucy
(yes, I know this is close to my own name--but even if I weren't named "Lucia," I love this cute little name. :)

Boys:

Joseph
Joel
Nathaniel (I really like the nickname 'Nate')

..looks like I'll only be having three sons! Haha. :) No...I know I have more than this--I just can't remember anymore! I think about the girls' names more often than the boys. ;) And don't worry. I have wayyy more favorite names than this--these are just some of my tops. :) So don't take it to heart if your name isn't on here. ;)

What are some of your favorite names?

Love Emilia, Olivia, Autumn, and Julia.... I have a LOT of favorite names... my friend and I always conspire about what we are planning on naming our children when we get married... sometimes I wonder if we will even really end up using the ones we always say we would DEFINITELY use :-)

I also, like the thought of calling my girls by their first and middle names, like mine: Martha Joy, and my sister: (who we sometime call by both) Maggie Ree.

Thanks for the fun posts! ;)

  16. Awesome names!

I agree about what you said about parents having the special privilege to name their kids. It's one of the most amazing things parents can do for their child. :)

Honestly, if I get married someday, I'm kinda hoping for triplets. :D Two boys and a girl really. William Douglas, Caden Mathias, and Holly Marie. Don't anyone steal!! ;D I claimed them first!

    Have a good night!

  20. Great choice of names!

This is kinda funny. Yesterday, the youth of my homeschool group had a wait training seminar (purity/True Love Waits seminar), and two of the incorporated activities had to do with writing to your future mate and naming your children. And when I came home, I found out Miss Raquel made a post about letter writing to her future husband. And know I saw this post. "Coincidental"? :P

Anyway, here are some names I would love to give my future children...if ever.

    Boys:
    Daniel
    Darcy
    Brandon
    Tilney
    Knightely
    Edmund
    (Jane Austen-inspired...and Narnia-inspired)

    Girls:
    Hadassah
    Lucy
    Brielle
    Spring
    Summer
    Autumn

  26. I LOVE names! lol. This was a fun post to read - and all the comments. My girls name list is a lot longer, but I think thats just because the boy ones I like never change.

Girls: Mackenzie, Jordyn, Annalyn/Analiese (I like compound Anna- names that can be shortened to Annie), Grace, Evelyn, Elizabeth (Ellie), Hannah

Boys: Charlie, James, Josiah, Ty, Noah, Jack

Be careful though....my favorite girls name for a long time was Brooklyn - then I started dating my boyfriend and he vetoed that right away! I also had Rachael, Rebekah, and Charlotte on my girls name list and he had nieces with ALL those names! lol. Always fun to make lists though :)

  28. Yay, my name is on your list (Rebekah)! And I have a brother named Joseph, too. I've also thought about my future kids' names (if the Lord decides for me to get married and bless me with children). I've always thought it would be neat to name my children with names from the Bible, or at least have a middle name from the Bible. I really like names with "l", "i", and "e" in them! :) I think my favorite letter is "L". So far, for names, I like...

    Girls:
Lydia (I love this name! It just sounds so pretty and feminine, even though I guess it could be associated with the Lydia from P&P.)
    Abigail
    Elizabeth
    Grace (short and sweet)

Boys: (hmm...haven't thought about these as much)
    Joshua
    Caleb
Now that I think about it, I do like Nathaniel and Phillip too.

~Rebekah (sorry the comment is so long!)

  30. I just looked through the meanings of a ton of names the other day...these are some of my favorites. I didn't mean for them to be, but they're all Hebrew, except Neil and Declan, of course.:)
For girls- Susannah (or the Hebrew, Shoshanna), Annabeth, Naomi, Eliana (Ellie:), Abigail, Jemima
For boys- Micah, Nathaniel (seems a lot of us like that one!), Peter, Jonas, and I like the meanings of Neil, Asher, and Declan, but I don't think I'd use them, at least not for first names.;)

  31. I've kept a running list of names for the longest time ever. I find it easier to think of girls' names too! For girls I like:

    Navarra
    Margaret

    Boys:

And a couple names that I'm not sure which gender they should be for:
    Shiloh
Shenandoah (if a girl's name, then nickname "Nan")

  33. I love names... naming your characters is the best (well... maybe not best) part of writing a story. My children will probably be named after some characters in my stories :)
So, my favorite names for girls: Lysbeth, Katurah, Talitha, Starlee, Anne-Marie, Mary, and Selah
and for boys: Beckham ("Beck"), Riley, Jack, Luke, Jeff, George, and Micah.

  34. Well, I kinda want to have 6 boys, I know it’s a lot, but I think it would be great. But anyway, for girl names:
Alyssa Juliana, Rosalie Lillian, Jade Treasure, Jazira Kiara.
    Boys: Jasper Charles, Lorenzo Luca.
But if I got my six boys…Christopher Robin (okay, I know this sounds really dumb, but he would be called Kit, and with the Robin I could name him after my daddy, and the Christopher would make my grandmother happy. And just think what a great punishment it would be, to call him Christopher Robin and watch all his little siblings start giggling. Yeah, I’m already conspiring against my future kids.)
Anyway, Christopher Robin (Kit) , Adam Thomas, Nate James, Bryan Kyle and Quinn Ryan (twins!), and Jacob (Jake)…something. I haven’t decided yet.
And I know I probably won’t get six boys, but I’m sure I’ll find the right names for the kids I do get.

  35. I'd have to say that my favorite girl names are

    Vera (for my great-grandmother)

    Cora

    Elizabeth

    Grace

My favorite names for boys are

    Micheal

    Benjamin

    Thomas

    Jackson

    Levi

I tend to lean towards the more traditional names.

  36. haha, I am SO picky when it comes to boy's names. :P So yeah, only about 2-3 sons for me too. j/k You know, the really bad part of it all is that I rarely, rarely like Biblical names--is that wicked? :P They just aren't--me. So bad. But true. ;)

For girls I like almost anything Italian--ending with "a", of course.

    Monica
    Dominica
    Lienna
Keslie (not Italian, but so cute!)
    Justina

    annnddd...more. ;)

    Boys:

    Michael (hey, a Biblical one!)
John (another, and so simple and masculine.)
Nico (Italian for Nick. I just love the name Nick in general.)

I'll come up with a few more one of these days. You thought YOU were the picky one? ;)
