This morning, it dawned bright and cold and crisp--an authentic almost-winter-morning, and I was up with the sunrise to capture its first rays.
I love these frosty mornings, when you're cozy inside before your freshly-decorated Christmas tree, eating warm oatmeal before the fire. Outside, it's a wonderland of sparkling frost-covered foliage, bare tree limbs and left over leaf piles.
And it is the perfect day for an impromptu Winter picnic.
We grabbed our scarves, hats, and gloves, then piled in Olivia's little rig to hit the back roads. We went through forest and fields until we came to the perfect little trail meandering deep into the woods.
..Out came the thermos full of hot stew, apple cider, warm cheese biscuits and tangy tangerines.
It was perfect. Just the trees, the cold blue sky, and we, on our Winter picnic.
this was cute:)

ReplyDeleteThis is super cute! I LOVED it! It made me feel like I was right with you! I wish I could go on a winter picnic... ;)
ReplyDeleteLOVED this post! So fun and relaxing at the same time to see all of the photos. :) You're a great photographer!
ReplyDeleteI loved the first photo - so beautiful! I love sunset/rise photos and the curtains just added a certain vintage-y touch to it. LOVE the blanket too! I am going to own tons of those... The woods look so peaceful and sweet! I would have loved to be able to go walk with you in them. :) It must be nice to have such a sweet place to have a picnic and a walk in.
Food looks yummy! I would love some of the apple cider! I used to love it when we got it [once in a blue moon, that is!] and the honey bottle is just so quaint sitting there beside the biscuits. The oranges look awesome in that basket! We have been blessed with being able to get to pick madarina oranges as well as regular oranges and grapefruit from the trees around where we live. It seems the locals just don't care about the trees that are chocked full of those delicious fruits!
Your sister is beautiful, as always. :) She's so picturesque! You are just as beautiful as she is, and I love the fact that you have blond hair, and she has brown; I couldn't imagine you two any different. :) You are both beautiful. I know I've told you this before, but your eye colour is PERFECT! :D
